If we’re new to tango, the first few attempts dancing at a milonga aren’t going to be perfect, to say the least.
Back in 2013 I wrote about my first milonga, and how it was pretty much a trainwreck.
A point I made was the importance of getting that first negative experience out of the way.
But let’s consider another helpful perspective. As discouraging and embarrassing as that early experience can be, that moment is over and isn’t worth dwelling on (except for comedic purposes).
If we continue progressing, our subsequent tango experiences will never be that bad again. We’re past the worst of it, and from there on out, things will only improve.
